BE Words: Driven/Good
What do you do at KHJ?
I’m the IT manager, which means I make sure all systems and networks run at peak performance so that they have little to no down-time.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
The customer support. Just being able to solve problems and provide overall support—that’s work I really enjoy.
What brought you to KHJ?
I’ve been in this industry for the entirety of my career and was looking for work that would keep me in the same industry. Plus, I was incredibly tired of commuting to Cambridge. KHJ is a great group of people who truly like what they do, and [the fact that everyone liked their job] was very important to me.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I’m just a little antisocial; TV shows are things I can really get into. I love Game of Thrones— who doesn’t? And I’m working my way through The Handmaid’s Tale. And I mean, god, there are so many good shows! I like watching F1 racing too.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I love finding out how and why things work. When I was a kid, I’d take apart electronics with a butter knife. So, I guess my talent’s being a secret geek. Though most of the time I was able to put them back together, [sometimes] it didn’t end up well!
What’s your favorite thing to do with your kids?
With my girls, I’d braid hair, played Barbies, read books, played board games, anything they wanted. Just being a supportive dad and being there for them was the important part.
What’s your favorite ad/ad campaign?
I’m totally dating myself, but there was this ad from the ’90s from Subaru. In it, a father was trying to figure out who drove his new car. We see the car doing all these crazy donuts and maneuvers while “La Bamba” plays, and no one in the family wants to own up to driving it. But then there’s this little old lady sitting in a chair and knitting, quietly humming “la, la, la, Bamba.” And I thought that was just hilarious.
